Bruce Springsteen - The Rising just builds and builds

Britney Spears - Piece of me sorry but the production is amazing and very catchy.

Van Halen - I'll Wait forgot how much I liked this song.

Seal - Prayer For The Dying just awesome (Trevor Horn - Producer)

Science Experiment

Over the last 3 days I have been cut, stretched, sewn, stuck, squeezed, had fever, broke fever, bound, walked to death, proded, cathetered (Almighty in Heaven Please never again!) Cold, hot, wet...

you get the picture.  All of this was a good thing.  The procedure was a success...I found out a little bit more of my muscle disease... I am home 2 2/3 after all of that and getting around pretty good.  My red blood count is down so I am a little tired but we'll get that up soon enough.  Beets and purple cabbage anyone?  Thank you so much for all the prayers and well wishes,  they really made a huge difference.

More to come!

Happy Independence Day

American-Eagle-and-Flag-II-Print-C10055018I read this over at Mark Batterson's Blog and it really inspired me to share it. We watched his sermon for the "One Prayer" series last week and I thought it must really be cool to live in Washington D. C. and in the middle of our nations history.

Some background of our founding Fathers:

Just thought I'd share some backstory about some of the fifty-six signers of the Declaration of Independence. Most Americans know next to nothing about these fifty-six heroes who pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to the cause of freedom.

John Witherspoon was an ordained minister and authored several books of sermons, as well as editing America's first family Bible published in 1791.

Charles Thomson served as Secretary of Congress and was a Biblical scholar. He helped edit the first American translation of the Greek Septuagint into English.

Charles Carroll, the last of the fifty-six signers to pass away at the age of 95 in 1832, wrote out his declaration of faith at the age of eighty-nine.

On the mercy of my Redeemer I rely for my salvation, and on His merits; not on the works I have done in obedience to His precepts.

Another Founding Father, Benjamin Rush, is considered the "Father of American Medicine." He personally trained three thousand medical students. Dr. Rush also founded "The First Day Society" which was the precursor to the Sunday School movement, as well as founding America's first Bible society. It was Benjamin Rush who said the Constitution was "as much the work of Divine Providence as any of the miracles recorded in the Old and New Testament were the effects of divine power."

Francis Hopkinson was a church music director and edited one of the first hymnals printed in America in 1767. He also set 150 psalms to music.

Roger Sherman is the only Founding Father to sign all four of America's Founding documents: the Articles of Association in 1774, the Declaration of Independence in 1776, the Articles of Confederation in 1778, and the U.S. Constitution in 1787. Roger Sherman was also a theologian. He wrote a personal creed that was adopted by his church:

I believe that there is one only living and true God, existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, the same in substance, equal in power and glory. That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are a revelation from God, and a complete rule to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy Him.

I could share story after story, but the bottom line is this: many, if not most, of our Founding Fathers were motivated by their Faith in Christ. They wrote sermons and creeds and hymns. They founded Bible Societies and Sunday Schools. They served God's purposes in their own generation.

By the way, five signers were captured and tortured during the Revolutionary War. Twelve signers had their homes ransacked and burned. Two signers lost sons to the war they declared. Two signers had sons become prisoners of war. And nine signers fought in the war and died from wounds or hardships of war.

Hope that adds a dimension of gratitude to your 4th of July celebration!

Thank you for all the kind words and Prayers for my surgery.  I really do appreciate them.  I am so ready to get this over with.  I am not nervous at all, just ready to be done with this crud.  I can't wait to play golf and do my kickboxing (kidding) again.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING JULY 7TH?

DSCF0177

I'm trying to be all sneaky and hijack Skip's blog for a surprise.  Skip is having hip replacement on his right hip in less than a week.  This is a picture taken two years ago when Skip had his left hip replaced. I don't really remember him smiling, but it must have been when they told us we could go home after 6 miserable days.  Two weeks later we were back with a staph infection for another week.  Good times, let me tell ya.

We are so ready to get this over with, but before it happens, I would love for you to join me in praying for Skip.  Send him well wishes, a prayer, verses, whatever to tell him how much you care.  We will have the surgery in Houston with a Dr.Stefan Kreuzer Monday morning.  Thanks guys for everything.

With love, Susie

Georgia Golf and Campus Pictures

We had the opportunity to play golf this morning at Cateechee Golf Club.  Wow! I have never been to Agusta (anyone wants to take me please call anytime) but this course was so beautiful.  Alot of the holes reminded me of the Masters look.  The greens were Bent Grass and super fast.  With my horrendous hip the elevation was tough but I managed to shoot a 90 which was good for me never playing here.  Here are some pics.  Micah was smiling in the cart and then we spent alot of time in the tall grass looking for our balls.  This is Real Life Rough... Good times...good times.

Hartwell, Georgia... A Beautiful Place

Our Senior Pastor Micah and I are visiting our Hartwell, Georgia campus this weekend.  I am really missing the family but I am also enjoying the amazing hospitality from my new southern friends.  Here is a view from my digs on Lake Hartwell.  Front and Back and view from the porch.  Awesome!

I Don't Understand

Jfa0893l

Got this idea here, who got it from here.  Great Blog.

I don't understand...

1. Why Oprah is so popular.

2. Why putting all the dirty clothes in the same place is such a big deal.

3. Why Christian music copies every popular style from 3-5 years ago instead of trying something (anything) new.

4. Why the record companies have let the music business go down the toilet.

5. Why I watch a channel about cooking food all the time.

6. Why plastic surgery has gone through the roof popular.  I think natural is so much more attractive.

7. Seriously... what happened to will power.

8. Having said that... I have totally fake teeth and fake hips and want lasiks.

9. Why my teenage daughter knows way more about our DVR and TV than me (Media/Pastor).

10. Why Tony Romo had to go to Mexico with Jessica Simpson last year.

11.  Why Susie is so much better at her blog than I am.  I MADE HER!

12. Why doesn't McDonalds have the McRib available all the time.

Bonus 13. Why my wife can't keep her hands off me.  I still got the FIRE!

14.  Why Susie's dad refuses to read my blog due to previous comment.
